DIY Giant Flower Stand & Stem

DIY a beautiful stand and stem for your giant paper flowers, perfect for showcasing your creations at events like weddings, birthday parties, and window displays. If I could make it from my home, you can too!

Materials Needed:

Step 1: Buiding the Concrete Base Stand

  • Mix rapid-set cement in an 8-inch plant saucer until it reaches a pancake batter consistency.

  • Tape the bottom of the coupler and tape the plastic plant saucer so that it could hold up the coupler.

  • Pour cement into plastic plant saucer with the coupler in the center and you could attach a small PVC pipe onto the coupler just so you have some control. All into the cement and let it set for a few hours.

  • Once set, this base will securely hold your flower stem.

Step 2: Shaping the Stem

  • Heat sand in a pan until hot. I thrifted a ladle, pan, and funnel for this and do not use for food.

  • Tape one end of the PVC pipe and funnel the heated sand into the taped PVC pipe and this heat will evenly shape the PVC pipe. Use duct tape to seal both ends of the PVC pipe during the sand-filling process to prevent leaks. Shape it to how you like it before it cools down.

  • Remove the sand once shaped and cooled. Then wrap the pipe with green crepe paper for a finished look.

  • Attach the coupler to the PVC stem and secure it into the concrete base.

Step 3: Pairing with Giant Flowers

This stand and stem DIY design is versatile and can pair with a variety of my giant paper flowers. I have created many different flower tutorials and templates, which can complement this setup beautifully. From giant paper dandelions to roses to whimsical butterflies, explore the possibilities and customize your backdrop to suit any occasion. Find all my Giant Paper Flower Templates HERE.

Tips for Success:

  • Work carefully with hot sand and concrete, wearing protective gear for safety.

  • Experiment with the height and curvature of your PVC pipe stem to match the style of your flowers.
